Anjuan Simmons: Tech News Round Up (Digg, XP SP3, Cell Phone Tracking, ZoHo Writer)

  • Nelson Webber · 2 years ago
Never have gotten into Digg. Haven't had a need or desire, I guess.

Wow! Faster XP due to SP3? Oh man, bring it on! I can hardly wait. I had feared MS was goi ti give up on XP with the advent of Vista. I'm glad they are not.

Where am I? Where's my cell phone?

I just had a thought. Why not use an offline word processor when you can't be inline and then upload your work when you are? Am I missing the point? I do sometimes, you know...

I think you're right about the offline word processor. I think the best "Online Office Suite" will allow you to work in a shared workspace when connected and then lock your documents on the server when you are not. That way, you can work offline without fear that someone else will change the master copy on the server. When you connect again, your local copy becomes the master and allows others to edit it.

    Makes sense.

Great explanation Anjuan. This is indeed the future. Another benefit to a web app model is the ease of software improvements and upgrades. Without the maintenance of a network locally, a network virtually can dramatically change the rules of work.
