Anjuan Simmons: Gaming Exile

    Low, quiet chuckle...

"I long for the day when one of my kids comes up to me and says, “Daddy, all of my friends have gaming machines. Can we get one?” I’ll smile inside and put up a pretense of protest (can’t let the kid have it easy, right?)."

Unless, of course, they look up this post and see that Daddy wanted one all along...

I see either way as a winning scenario: you get the toy you've wanted.

I expect (and secretly hope) to be in a similar situation with my own children.

I have to confess that although I am not a gamer, some of those newer toys look really good. The action and the amazing definition of the animation and back grounds involved is impressive indeed. I'm a very visually oriented person, so superior graphics is a big deal for me.

Since it looks like you'll get to that point first, maybe you can suggest some good titles and platforms?

    Nelson,
I will be happy to offer any suggestions I have!  Yes, you are right in that my children may one day see this post and realize my true intentions.  However, I don't think kids see their parents as much more than rules lawyers and party poopers until they grow up and realize that Mom and Dad were just regular people.  So, I think they will safely ignore learning anything more about that until they grow up and have kids of their own!

    Jade,
I don't normally allow people to question my tech cred, but I'll let in pass in your case. I like your blog as well though I don't recall exactly how I found it.
